Amichien Bonding is a method of of establishing
ourselves as leader of our pack in the the minds of those most
important- the dog's.
Jan Fennell developed this method after seeing Monty Roberts, The Horse
Whisperer, work with an "unbroken" horse of one of her friends. She
realised that if you could influence a horse's behaviour by learning
the way they communicate, you could also do the same with dogs. She set
out to learn as much as she could by studying the behaviour of wolves,
dingoes and African wild dogs. She soon realised that the behaviours
exhibited by these wild dogs were the same as those she noted in her
own dogs.
Applying what she she had observed Jan set about convincing her own
pack that she was indeed a worthy leader, that she could provide what
they instinctively knew they needed for survival. Eventually Jan
refined this down to four key elements.
If you provide all four elements in a calm, patient and consistent manner, your dog will accept you as leader.
Nowhere in this method is there the use of force, aggression,
gadgets, choke chains or fear. You simply convey your status of leader
in a way that your dog understands. |
